Neighbourhood Description: The Centre of the city is named Surrey where I am living at present.
The three important characteristics of my neighbourhood are written below:
1. The population of the area is growing moderately in my neighbourhood.
Interestingly, the population of my neighbourhood has grown moderately in the last five to six years as shown that the population has grown BY 41.50% (6,927 to 9,821) from the year 2016 to the year 2021. By looking at the rates of Vancouver CMA, it also shows that there is only a 7.3 change in population from 2016 to 2021.
2. Increase in immigrant number in my neighbourhood.
In my neighbourhood, most people come from outside countries or can be called “immigrants.” From the year 1980 to the year 2021, the number of immigrants increased by 4.2% to 13.7% respectively in my neighbourhood as compared to Vancouver CMA which shows a decline in rates of the number of immigrants. Interestingly, most people are coming from Asian countries like India, China and many others in my neighbourhood as well as in overall Vancouver CMA. A smaller number of indigenous people are left in my neighbourhood.
3. Decline in rates of mobility in my neighbourhood.
In my neighbourhood, Mobility status shows that as compared to the data recorded in the last five years with the data recorded a year ago the number of people moving from my Neighborhood declined. Counts are 65.0% and 22.6% in date recorded five years ago and a year ago respectively. This happened because now my neighbourhood is very diverse, and well-developed, with great job opportunities, great weather, lot of housing space. Therefore, people like to live here. The same thing happens in Vancouver CMA.
Wow! Cool to see that your neighbourhood has grown by 41.50% compared to the Vancouver CMA at 7.3% One thing I'll say is to not forget about adding in the Vancouver CMA rates as it's part of the assignment and it also helps when trying to compare the rates between your neighbourhood and the Vancouver CMA. ReplyDeleteHi Amandeep, excellent work on your assignment, finding about your neighbourhood, I think your neighbourhood growth was cool compared to CMA's, I was really shocked to see a 34.2% difference between your neighbourhood and CMA's.
Whoa, that number is very small of increase in population compared to vancouver, considering canadas entire population has been growing greatly, very interesting things you mentioned. Also, do you agree with the fact your neighbourhood has great oppurtunities and housing etc?

ReplyDeleteHello Jasleen, you did a great job and find lot of interesting facts about your neighborhood. the figure about 65 % people move from last 5 years. As you mention that this happened because now your neighborhood is very diverse with great job opportunities lot of housing space.
